HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE VOUCHERS Vouchers to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are available to Bunker Hill Village residents for use at the City of Houston Environmental Service Center (ESC) located at 11500 South Post Oak Road. The cost is $22.50 (a $75.00 value) due to a grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council. The voucher allows disposal of up to 200 pounds of HHW which includes acids, aerosol cans, batteries, antifreeze, brake fluid, craft and hobby chemicals, degreasers, drain cleaners, fertilizers, fluorescent lights, herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, oil filters, paints/stains and thinners, pesticides, photography chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals, and residential electronic scraps (monitors, CPU’s, televisions, VCR’s, etc). The center is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The ESC can accept most household hazardous wastes. However, there are some materials the ESC cannot accept. These include: Ammunition, Explosives, Medical Wastes, Radioactive Wastes (smoke detectors), Wastes from Businesses, and Compressed Gas Cylinders With the voucher, Bunker Hill Village residents can also use the Westpark Consumer Recycling Center, 5900 Westpark to recycle used goods. The center accepts aluminum and tin cans, oil filters, used tires, computers and other residential electronic scraps, #1 and & #2 plastic containers, glass bottles and jars, telephone books, office paper, cardboard, magazines, and used motor oil. Newspapers placed in a brown bag will also be accepted. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Both facilities provide a drive through drop off location. |
